The Smart Campus suite of products combines the abilities of current campus security systems with four revolutionary ideas that will significantly enhance communication, emergency management and peace-of-mind among parents and students.

GO-Phone

The crucial lesson we learned from the Virginia Tech shootings are that we cannot stop future events. Rapid and effective communication is absolutely critical in emergency situations.

EVENT BASED GEOFENCING

In the event of a campus-wide emergency, a centralized command center can draw concentric circles (red, yellow and green) on a web-based campus map to visually show the danger levels. Each student or faculty member within each circle will receive a text or voice message specific to their area with instructions on where to go.

GPS-TRACKING

In the event of an emergency, a centralized command center has the ability to track its students and faculty on a web-based campus map. Through the direct permission of an individual student, a phone can be tracked for safety purposes. See TrackMe below.

TrackMe with SOS-capabilities

Imagine you are cramming for a biology test until the library closes at 2 a.m. You have no one to walk with you to your dorm, leaving you open to being followed or, even worse, attacked. With TrackMe, a simple Java application, run directly on the phone and initiated by the student, gives the command center permission to track the student until the student reaches the dorm. In the event of imminent danger, a SOS button, a shortcut button located on the exterior of the phone, can be pushed to alert campus police. The alert not only mobilizes pursuit vehicles but also sends a text message to the nearest campus police officer with the students name, phone number, and location.

GO-PHONE

In the event of a campus-wide emergency, campus police would be first on the scene. These forces are GPS-tracked through their mobile phone. However, the command center now has the unprecedented ability to track local responders (ie. local and state police). As the additional forces arrive, they can pick up a Sprint Go-Phone from the security command center. This allows their location to be tracked, and gives the command the center the ability to coordinate efforts more effectively. Everyone is trackable.
